Mizelle Mayo


Mizelle Mayo is a visual storyteller based in Anchorage, AK. She focuses on pitching and producing stories that emphasize the various ways people in Alaska live their lives through subsistence, community building through cuisine, and documenting the programs that help integrate families that are new to Alaska and American culture while preserving and honoring their own.

With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in journalism and media, she worked at Alaska Public Media as a photojournalist and multimedia production associate documenting local elections and issues in Anchorage. Mayo also utilizes her video and journalistic strengths for educational pieces about the youth in Alaska communities.

In her recent role as the video production manager at Future Elder, an Alaska Native woman-owned communications and marketing agency that focuses on behavioral change and cultural communications, she produces promotional and prevention video spots that emphasize the impacts of living healthy.

Outside of her career, she volunteers at the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness monthly and photographs every day life living in Alaska.
